Florida primary set for Tuesday

Early voting will continue until 7 p.m. Saturday night in preparation for Tuesday’s Florida Republican Primary.
According to Ann Bodenstein, Santa Rosa County Supervisor of Elections, it will be business as usual on Tuesday.
“I would like to point out this is a Republican Party only primary,” Bodenstein said. “this is not an open election for Democrats, Independents, or other registered parties.
“The only other issue on the ballot is in the Midway fire District referendum.”
Due to this referendum all registered voters in the Midway fire District will also have the opportunity to vote no matter what party they are registered with.
Bodenstein indicated that as of Thursday morning 2,300 individuals had taken advantage of the early voting period as allowed by Florida Law, but that number could grow quite a bit before Tuesday’s primary.
“I am expecting things to pick up a little more on Friday and Saturday as we come to the close of the early voting period,” Bodenstein said.
For Tuesday’s Republican Primary there was over 3,000 absentee ballots requested.
As of Thursday morning, Bodenstein’s office had received just over 1,200 of those ballots back.
